Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified or trainee Technical Instructor to join the Community Therapy team in Lancaster. You will work under supervision delivering high-quality rehabilitation, within patients' homes and community settings, alongside Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

The role includes assessing function, planning interventions, and supporting staff training while progressing through the Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care/Assistant Practitioner Qualification or equivalent, or willingness to start within 12 months.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel independently to areas not served by public transport.
• Computer skills relevant to the role (Microsoft Office, EMIS, STRATA).
• Literacy skills at level 2 or above (GCSE, Functional Skills or equivalent).
• Training relevant to Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Core Skills (e.g., OTAGO, Trusted Assessor, Therapeutic Moving and Handling).

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and rehabilitation to patients in home or community settings.
• Carry a delegated caseload and prioritise tasks daily.
• Assist qualified OT/Physiotherapist staff and train care staff within the multi-disciplinary team.
• Provide feedback to clinicians and engage in supervision.
• Work as a lone worker in the community in line with policy.
• Adhere to professional standards and trust policies.
