Job summary

Ayrshire Independent Living Network (AILN) is seeking a part-time Support Worker for Galston to help a young adult with Down syndrome participate in community activities. The role requires 10–16 hours per week with a pay rate of £13.45 per hour, and involves accompanying him to activities including swimming, clubs, meals and walks.

A driving licence is essential; you will drive a mobility vehicle. PVG Disclosure Scotland, two references, and a six-month probation apply.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full driving licence and be confident driving a mobility vehicle.
• Experience of supporting individuals with epilepsy and/or challenging behaviour would be beneficial.
• Positive attitude, patience, consistency and willingness to learn are important.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the young adult in the community to enjoy activities and build independence.
• Assist with activities such as swimming, social clubs, walks and meals.
• Ensure transport is available and safe, with a mobility vehicle as part of the role.
