What can you expect from us?

Becoming an Autism practitioner could be just the start of your career. We have a dedicated career pathway with opportunities to progress within the organization. We offer extensive training and support to gain NVQ qualifications.

If you are new to care, demonstrating the right values is important. During your first 12 weeks, you will undertake your care certificate qualification to develop your knowledge and skills in Health & Social Care to become an autism practitioner upon successful completion of your probation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standards of professional care and practice, supporting independent living, physical, cultural, social, learning, vocational, recreational, and emotional needs.
  • Ensure cleanliness across the setting, following IPC measures.
  • Develop positive relationships with service users, families, and team members, knowing your limitations and seeking support when needed.
  • Familiarize with Autism East Midlands systems and processes.
  • Keep all records up to date, secure, and confidential, adhering to GDPR.
  • Liaise professionally with families, clinical teams, and external agencies, recording appropriately within confidentiality bounds.
  • Develop understanding of autism and implement best practices.
  • Learn about CALM and Positive Behaviour Support and apply these in practice.
  • Complete all elements of the Care Certificate and mandatory training.
  • Use internal IT systems and log incidents on reporting systems.
  • Follow service finance procedures.
  • Work flexibly as required by the rota and contract terms.
  • Communicate effectively within the team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Understand communication methods of those supported.
  • Work safely, following support plans, risk assessments, and policies.
  • Support service users with personal care when needed.
  • Provide support in line with individual support plans.
  • Adhere to the Autism East Midlands Code of Conduct.
  • Support and encourage educational engagement.

  • Embodiment of our values: kindness, dedication, and passion for people
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the role
  • Willingness to develop and pursue an NVQ in Health & Social Care
  • Comfort with IT and experience using emails

If you have previous experience as a support worker or in Health & Social Care, and knowledge of CQC requirements, this will be beneficial. Lived experience is also welcomed. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
