Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is recruiting a Community Staff Nurse based at Ailsa Hospital on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. The role is 22.2 hours per week, with pro-rata adjustments for the Scotland-wide change to part-time hours from 1 April 2026.

A UK driving licence is essential for this community-based post. You will manage caseloads, provide supervision and deploy staff, and work across diverse community settings.

Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Staff Nurse based at Ailsa Hospital. This post is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

Hours

22.2 hours per week.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for the management of the caseload in the absence of the Charge Nurse including supervision and deployment of staff. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work on your own initiative and as a lone worker working within a variety of settings within the community. You should be able to provide evidence or personal development and a willingness to undertake appropriate training.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post

Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC Registration

You will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative.

Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team Excellent time management skills Working knowledge of basic information technology.
