Job summary

Devon Partnership NHS Trust in Exeter is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated full-time Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join the community service delivering SLT to children and young people in clinic and education settings.

You will work within CFHD, receive regular supervision and opportunities for training, and become part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team across Devon and Torbay under the Balanced System framework.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs in community/education settings.
• Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools for children.
• Knowledge of a broad range of therapeutic interventions for children.
• Understanding of clinical governance and audit principles.
• Understanding of roles of other professionals relevant to the client group.
• Knowledge of standards of record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload of children and young people in the Exeter area with developmental speech, language and communication disorders, with support from senior colleagues.
• Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of developmental speech, language and communication disorders.
• Provide appropriate intervention and evaluate outcomes.
• Advise parents, carers, early years and school staff and other professionals on communication needs.
• Set up and monitor programmes to be carried out by other team members.
• Prepare reports reflecting specialist knowledge.
