Job summary

Cheshire East Council is offering a permanent Clerical Officer role based at Macclesfield Town Hall and the Salinae Reablement Office in Middlewich, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is an office-based position.

The role requires strong computer and math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a busy duty desk environment, supporting referrals, hospital admissions and visits.

Job description

Are you seeking a new and varied administrative role? Care4CE Community Reablement Services is offering a permanent Clerical Officer position, working 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri. This role is based at Macclesfield Town Hall, Macclesfield, and the Salinae Reablement Office in Middlewich. Please note, this is an office-based position only.

PAY

Grade 5, starting at £26,403 per annum (pro rata), with annual increments over four years up to £28,142. Hourly rate starts from £13.69 per hour with annual increments over four years up to £14.59. A pay award for 2026-2027 is currently under consultation.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

Reablement is a community based front-line short-term service working with our integrated health partners, in supporting hospital discharges and hospital avoidance with a strong focus to enable individuals, to reach a maximum level of function whilst encouraging independence, choice and control or assessing for long term care needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled individual with excellent computer and math proficiency to manage in-house electronic monitoring, payroll and Adult Social Care systems. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive, positive, and can-do attitude, and excel as a team player in a busy, fast-paced duty desk environment, and able to manage their workload quickly and efficiently. The post holder will support the duty senior and coordinators in handling frontline referrals, hospital admissions/discharges, and the allocation of customer visits.

Administrator tasks are performed alongside the duty desk, requiring an excellent eye for detail due to the use of live systems and complex process calculations. Exceptional communication skills are essential, along with adherence to the Council's Culture and value-based thinking, ensuring professional and sensitive engagement with all customers, professionals and colleagues. A valid driver's license is required for this role.

About you

You will design, deliver and evaluate workforce development and planning programmes and initiatives so that the Council has well led and managed people with the right capabilities, skills, and attitudes in the right place at the right time. You will assist in overseeing our apprentice contract, where you will be monitoring apprenticeship training providers to ensure the training they deliver is of a high standard and appropriate to staff.

As an organisation we continue to develop ways in which we assess our current and future workforce requirements within the Council. You will assist with supporting delivery of the relevant workforce assessments and analysis across the multiple services and teams we have.

You will deliver complex organisational wide learning and development solutions and their associated contracts, including our apprenticeship training provision and the provision of training across corporate and service training programmes and leadership and management programmes (including the contract for Health & Safety training for the Council).
