Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is recruiting a part-time Community Mental Health Centre Support Worker (Band 3) in Haverfordwest.

The role supports the community mental health team in delivering compassionate care to people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, across home, community and health settings.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team with opportunities to develop skills in therapeutic interventions under supervision; Welsh language is desirable for applicants.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults/children and GDPR.
  • Ability to complete certified/accredited physical intervention training (PMVA) during induction.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior mental health practitioners to deliver responsive and effective care during assessment and treatment to a designated caseload of individuals experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
  • Work in a compassionate and non-judgemental manner with individuals in their own homes, in the community and in health settings.
  • Accurately recording contacts with individuals in clinical notes in a timely manner and supporting necessary administrative tasks.

We are looking to recruit a Health Care Support Worker to join our Community Mental Health Team We are a well-established community mental health team.

The community mental health team work with people who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. Supporting people through their journey of recovery from mental health difficulties.

The role of the support worker is to be part of/compliment the community mental health multi-disciplinary team in delivering interventions and support to promote the recovery people experiencing mental health difficulties.

The role of the support worker within the community mental health team is varied and there are opportunities for staff to develop skills in supporting therapeutic interventions, working under the supervision of a team of experienced senior mental health practitioners.

The team includes a number of very experienced support workers who the successful applicant will work alongside.

Main duties of the job

Qualifications & Knowledge
  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • Ability to be able to complete certified /accredited physical intervention training, for example Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) during induction
Experience
  • Experience of working within a relevant heath or social care environment, providing direct patient care
  • Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice
  • Experience of working within the NHS
Language Skills
