Job summary

British Red Cross is seeking a Community Link Worker in Hertford, Hertfordshire, on-site. You will support people facing health, housing and financial challenges by connecting them with local services and providing practical help to improve wellbeing.

The role involves home visits, partnership work with health and social care, and building relationships across community groups. The post requires a full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with flexible working options and a 35-hour week.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people in community development, health, social care, learning support or public health settings.
• Experience working in a charity, community organisation or public sector service.
• Strong administration skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems.
• Ability to learn and use databases and case management systems quickly and accurately.
• A team-focused approach and the ability to build positive working relationships.
• An understanding of the voluntary and statutory sectors, with the ability to travel across the local area when required.

About The Role

Community Link Worker

Location: Hertford, Hertfordshire (On-site)

Salary: £26,994 per annum, pro rata

Hours: 35 per week

Contract: Fixed term contract (until March 2027)

Additional Requirement: Applicants must have a full licence (2 years) and access to a vehicle.

As a Community Link Worker, you'll support people facing challenges such as poor health, loneliness, housing concerns and financial pressures. You'll help them find practical solutions and connect with local services, groups and activities. You'll work closely with health, social care and voluntary sector partners to provide personalised support and prevent problems from escalating. Through home visits, community outreach and strong relationship building, you'll empower people to achieve their goals and improve their wellbeing. Every day brings new opportunities to make a positive difference in your community.
