Job summary

West Sussex Libraries in Bognor Regis seeks a friendly Library Assistant to join a high-performing team. You will deliver excellent customer service, help visitors access resources, and support day-to-day library operations.

The role is full-time (37 hours) with a salary of £25,614–£26,016 per annum, 25 days annual leave (rising after five years) and a Local Government Pension Scheme. You’ll also help run Rhyme Times and reading events.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (9-4/A-C) including Maths and English or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a team to complete tasks.
• Digital skills to assist customers and use library systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with enquires and guide to services.
• Support delivery of reading events and rhyme time sessions.
• Use library IT systems to register members and manage data.
• Respond to enquiries in person and by phone.
• Support reading recommendations and create book displays.
• Maintain and process book stock.
