Job summary

Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust is seeking a friendly, reliable Food Service Assistant for Plaxton Court in Scarborough. This permanent, part-time role (20 hours per week) pays £13.47 per hour and involves working in our on-site kitchen for residents and the public seven days a week.

You’ll serve meals, clear and tidy dining areas, keep the kitchen clean, collect trays, and assist with basic food preparation while upholding food hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a commercial catering environment.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Friendly, helpful and approachable with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve food to residents and the public and clear/tidy dining areas.
• Help keep the kitchen clean and organised throughout each service.
• Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation.
