Job description

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly, supportive and forward-thinking South Clyde Community Dietetic Service within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based dietetic care to adults across the lifespan within the community setting, alongside a small specialist caseload of individuals with diagnosed learning disabilities. The postholder will work across the South Clyde Quadrant, supporting the general community dietetic service in Renfrewshire and delivering specialist learning disability dietetic services within Inverclyde. Services are provided in a variety of settings including patients' own homes, supported accommodation, resource centres and community clinics. The role involves close multidisciplinary working with medical, nursing and allied health professional colleagues to deliver person-centred care.

Key responsibilities:

The postholder will be responsible for planning and delivering an evidence-based dietetic service in line with national and local priorities. They will provide specialist nutritional assessment and intervention for referred patients across the lifespan, including individuals with learning disabilities, their carers and support staff. The role includes working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to support patients with complex nutritional needs, supervising and mentoring student dietitians, dietetic assistants/support workers and administrative staff, and delivering education and training to healthcare professionals on a range of nutrition-related topics. The successful candidate will also contribute to local health improvement initiatives and support the ongoing development of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics (or equivalent qualification)
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to delivering person-centred and inclusive care
  • Experience of delivering evidence-based dietetic practice
  • Ability to provide education, training and supervision to staff and students
