The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Dietitian with a passion for paediatric dietetics to join our Dietetic Outpatient Service on a part‑time, permanent basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical knowledge and skills within paediatric dietetics, working with a varied and complex caseload. While experience in paediatrics is desirable, we also welcome applications from dietitians who have a strong interest in developing a career in paediatrics but may not yet have had the opportunity to work in this speciality. Support for BDA post‑registration paediatric modules may be available.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • Part‑time, Permanent
  • Shift Pattern, Monday to Friday
  • Salary is Pro Rata for part‑time posts.
The Paediatric Dietetic Service Operates Across Three Sites
  • Royal Hospital for Children (Main Base)
  • Inverclyde Royal Hospital
  • Vale of Leven Hospital
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse outpatient paediatric caseload, including children with complex nutritional needs.
  • Assess and support patients requiring Home Enteral Tube Feeding (HETF), including those with complex feeding difficulties.
  • Contribute to and support outpatient dietetic clinics.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
  • Collaborate within a large, supportive team of dietitians.
  • Participate in the Scottish student dietetic clinical placement programme.
  • Engage in ongoing service development and quality improvement.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • Degree in Dietetics (BSc or equivalent).
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Demonstrable core knowledge of nutrition and growth.
  • Evidence of relevant clinical experience.
  • Postgraduate training or CPD in paediatrics or relevant areas such as complex nutrition support is desirable.
