Action Together CIO in Tameside is seeking a Community Development Worker to strengthen social infrastructure across communities. You will support local people to turn ideas into action and help VCSE organisations develop through networking, training and hands-on support.

The role focuses on tackling inequality, building trust, and promoting inclusion while connecting communities to local initiatives and stakeholders in a hybrid work setting.

The Action Together team is vital in achieving the charity's purpose - to maximise opportunities to create positive social change; promote social justice and harness social benefit; and to strengthen the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector.

Community Development Worker (Tameside)

This role will support our strategic ambition to advance our approach to Strengthen Social Infrastructure for Connected Communities.

This post will play a key role in building capacity across Tameside communities. You will support local people to turn their ideas into action and will strengthen existing local Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) organisations through providing organisational development support, networking spaces and training.

As a Community Development Worker, you will also connect people to what’s happening in their community, promote the great work of the VCFSE sector with local stakeholders, and help more people get connected and feel proud to live in Tameside.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will be someone who Is passionate about tackling inequality and striving for social justice and has experience of building trusting relationships with people and organisations. They will understand community development and working in a way that promotes inclusion and is interested in what makes communities and VCFSE organisations develop and thrive.

Closing Date for applications is 9am on Monday 12 October 2026

Interviews will be held on: Stage 1 Online - Thursday 22 October or Friday 23 October

Stage 2 In Person - Tuesday 3 November 2026
