Job summary

ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS IN WREXHAM is seeking a Community Development Officer. Based at Tŷ Avow, Wrexham, you may work across North Wales and occasionally travel to other UK areas to support voluntary and community organisations.

This full‑time role (30–37 hours) offers a £30,000 pa salary, pro rata for reduced hours, and 7% employer pension contribution. Training is provided; you will help with governance, volunteering, funding and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical governance advice to trustees, policies and structures
• Help organisations develop or improve how they operate
• Support problem-solving on disputes, sustainability and planning
• Signpost to specialist services when needed
• Help organisations set up and improve volunteering opportunities
• Organise events or activities that promote volunteering
• Share best practices in volunteer management
• Explain funding processes in clear, practical terms
• Support basic funding applications or direct to specialist support
• Organise funding workshops or advice sessions
• Help organisations involve communities in their work
• Support participation in local decision-making projects
• Assist with youth-led or community voice initiatives
• Build relationships with local organisations and partners
• Attend meetings and events with support where needed
• Promote AVOW services through conversations, events, or communications
• Record work using simple systems and collect feedback for KPIs
