Job summary

York SU is seeking a dedicated Community Coordinator to support college committees in delivering student-led events and activities. You will help foster inclusive spaces, engage with diverse student groups, and support democratic initiatives and campus programs.

The role is full-time and permanent, based on campus with some occasional home working. The starting salary is £27,325 per annum, with a welcoming, flexible approach to working arrangements.

Hours of Work:35 hours a week

About the Role:

York SU is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to work on key community building projects that will support students to make connections, foster inclusive and culturally diverse spaces and empower student voice and representation. The post holder will be responsible for providing operational support, advice, and guidance to the University’s college committees to enable them to deliver a range of student-led activities and events for their members. The role will include providing support to college committees for flagship events such as Welcome Week, cross-year community building activities, supporting democratic initiatives such as the annual College Elections and facilitating the training and development of elected officers in collaboration with the University. The Community Coordinator will also be responsible for the development and delivery of community building events and activities which engage students from a wide range of backgrounds and help foster a sense of belonging. The post holder will also work with other student groups and key stakeholders to support student-led community building initiatives, with a particular focus on fostering intercultural spaces and activities that facilitate cultural exchange, celebrate diversity, and provide opportunities that widen participation and engage students from underrepresented groups. The post holder will work closely with the Community Development Coordinator in the development of this Union’s programme of activity.

This is a full-time (35hrs/wk), permanent role to start 21st September 2026 (can be flexible). Employees must be available to work from campus, with the option for some occasional home working if appropriate for the role and in agreement with their line manager.
