Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a Student Engagement and Development Coordinator to support and enhance the experiences of student residents. You will use your teamwork and communications skills to engage a diverse student community and provide valuable support throughout their time with us.

Join a vibrant team within Accommodation & Commercial Services. The role is on site, full-time, with a focus on Residence Life communications, staff coordination and event delivery.

Responsibilities

The University of Sheffield is currently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Student Engagement & Development Coordinator. As a Student Engagement and Development Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the experiences of student residents. You will use your team working abilities, and skills in marketing and communications to engage a diverse range of students, fostering a sense of community and providing valuable support throughout their time at the University.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Lead on implementation of Residence Life communication strategies, ensuring an integrated and holistic approach across the section. To include the development of articles and advertising/promotion of events and campaigns via webpages, newsletters, emails and social media.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with the Student Engagement and Development Manager, The Engagement and Development Officer and ACS Marketing, to analyse data and create reports and develop recommendations for service improvement in terms of marketing activities.
  • Coordinate content for the Residence Life webpages, liaising with colleagues in Residence Life and across ACS, and implementing any in-cycle updates where needed.
  • Work collaboratively with ACS Marketing to include attending regular Marketing team meetings.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of best practice within the HE sector and develop new ideas by research, networking with other offices and contributing to relevant working groups.
  • Manage the allocation of student staff and coordinate rotas to ensure effective delivery of the programme, collaborating with Student Support Managers as required to monitor attendance and performance and ensure accurate payroll data.
  • Represent Residence Life and the wider ACS department at relevant meetings and events, for example Open Days, Housing Fair, Activities Fair, Arrivals Weekend etc.
  • As a member of staff you will be encouraged to make ethical and student-focussed decisions in your role, embedding the ACS Vision, Mission and Values into your working activities wherever possible.
  • As a member of our Professional staff you will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the professional Shared Skills and Behaviours Framework.

  • Essential or desirable Stage(s) assessed at Educated to A level standard (or equivalent qualifications/work experience)
  • Essential Application Experience of producing and delivering communications to a targeted audience, ideally with significant social media experience
  • Essential Interview/Application Excellent IT skills, Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Including relevant creative software packages (eg. Illustrator, Publisher, Canva)
  • Essential Interview/Application Experience of CMS platforms and webpage maintenance
  • Desirable Interview/Application Ability to effectively create and communicate reports to a range of stakeholders
  • Essential Interview/Application Experience of developing and maintaining a network of relationships including external service providers
  • Essential Interview/Application Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to coordinate staffing rotas and plan event delivery
  • Essential Interview/Application Excellent and efficient interpersonal, presentation and communication skills including customer service
  • Essential Interview/Application Ability to use initiative, work independently and operate flexibly to identify and implement alternative approaches and solutions when problems arise.

Further Information

Grade 5 Salary £27,319 - £31,236 per annum with potential progression to £33,951 per annum for sustained exceptional performance.

Work arrangement Full time (35 hours per week), 11-7 on site during academic term time, 9-5 on site during vacation periods. There will be some weekend commitments such as occasional Open Days and Arrivals Weekend.
