HCRG Care Group is seeking a Community Carer to assist in providing high-quality care to children with complex medical needs within the community and in their own homes.

You'll be supporting children and their families, ensuring they receive the care and attention they deserve in a comfortable, familiar environment.

In this role, you will be expected to maintain a flexible approach to your duties, as the responsibilities may adapt based on the evolving needs of the children.

You will be based at one of our Surrey-wide office hubs, working out in the community, with the flexibility of hybrid working to support your professional and personal needs.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide safe, effective care to children in their homes and the community, as delegated by the Named Nurse.
  • Recognize safeguarding concerns and follow appropriate procedures.
  • Maintain competencies in specific clinical skills and be familiar with emergency procedures, including escalation and resuscitation when needed.
  • Support children's development in partnership with families and the team across various settings.
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating environment and record the child's condition, taking appropriate action.
  • Organize daily activities and attend training and supervision sessions.
  • Complete the HCRG Care Certificate within 3 months (if required) and stay updated with relevant training.
  • Follow infection control and health & safety policies, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Communicate effectively, especially in situations with communication barriers, and liaise with the child's care team.
  • Participate in team meetings, maintain accurate records, and support colleagues by sharing information and addressing concerns.

Schedule:

  • 24/7 service with night shifts across the year, including weekends.

Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Understanding the impact of providing/receiving care in the home for children with complex medical needs and their families
  • Ability to participate in training of new staff in a variety of settings.
  • Willingness to work towards experienced to teach part of Competency Framework
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to relate to children.

Desirable

  • NVQ 3 in health or social care or recognized nursery nurse qualification
  • GCSE in Moths and English
  • British Sign Language level 1
  • Makaton
  • Experience of relevant clinical procedures and technology dependency
  • Minimum of 1yr experience working with children with complex health needs
  • Minimum of 1yr working with children in other setting, e.g., nursery, respite service

Other requirements: the successful applicant will need to be a car driver.
