Job summary

GSL Education is seeking an Outreach Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a student in the local community, helping develop confidence, independence and life skills through engaging community activities. You will transport the student to activities and appointments, liaise with schools and families, monitor progress, and support behaviour, safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care or support settings.
• Experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs (desirable).
• A full, clean UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and families.
• Patience, empathy and a calm, solution-focused approach.
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to maintain clear boundaries.
• Flexible, proactive and resilient attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student within the community.
• Safely transport the student to and from activities, appointments and educational provisions.
• Identify and support engagement in positive and enriching activities.
• Build a strong, trusting relationship that promotes confidence, self-esteem and independence.
• Support the student in developing social skills, positive routines and community engagement.
• Liaise effectively with schools, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
• Monitor, record and report on progress, engagement and wellbeing.
• Promote resilience, independence and life skills.
