Job summary

Harris Hill Charity Recruitment Specialists is recruiting for a Community and Events Manager to lead a nationwide fundraising programme in the charity sector. The role focuses on developing relationships with communities, schools and local groups while delivering high-impact events across the UK.

You will manage a small team, plan strategic events, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximise income and supporter engagement in a hybrid London-based setup.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering community and/or events fundraising.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse supporters.
  • Experience planning and delivering fundraising events.
  • Experience working with families, volunteers and local organisations.
  • Previous line management experience and team development.
  • Excellent project management with multi-priority handling.
  • Proactive, collaborative approach to fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the national Community and Events Fundraising Strategy and annual plans.
  • Grow community fundraising and relationships with families, schools, clubs, and local businesses.
  • Develop supporter journeys to increase participation and long-term engagement.
  • Plan and deliver a portfolio of events including Carol Service, Supper Club and Golf Day.
  • Manage participation in challenge events such as London Marathon and others.
  • Research and launch new fundraising events aligned with priorities and supporters.
  • Ensure events meet income targets and deliver great supporter experiences.
  • Build relationships with supporters, committees and ambassadors.
  • Develop stewardship and recognition programmes.
  • Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, Partnerships and Philanthropy teams to maximise opportunities.
  • Manage budgets and forecast income using data insights.
  • Ensure GDPR and fundraising policies compliance.
  • Line manage Fundraising Officers and an Administrator.

Harris Hill are delighted to be working with a fantastic charity to recruit for Community and Events Manager to develop and deliver an ambitious community and events fundraising programme across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and creative fundraising professional who is passionate about building relationships, inspiring supporters and developing innovative ways to generate sustainable income.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and delivering the charity's national Community and Events Fundraising Strategy and annual operational plans.
  • Growing community fundraising and building relationships with families, schools, clubs, community groups, faith groups and local businesses.
  • Developing supporter journeys that encourage participation, repeat giving and long‑term engagement.
  • Planning and delivering a portfolio of special events, including a Carol Service, Supper Club and Golf Day.
  • Managing participation in challenge events, including the London Marathon, half marathons, walks, skydives, cycling events and other third-party fundraising activities.
  • Researching and launching new fundraising events aligned with supporter interests and organisational priorities.
  • Ensuring events achieve agreed income and return‑on‑investment targets while delivering outstanding supporter experiences.
  • Building relationships with key supporters, committees, ambassadors and partners.
  • Developing effective stewardship and recognition programmes.
  • Working with colleagues across Communications, Marketing, Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy to maximise fundraising opportunities.
  • Managing budgets, monitoring expenditure and forecasting income.
  • Using data and insight to improve supporter engagement and fundraising performance.
  • Ensuring fundraising activity complies with GDPR, Fundraising Regulator guidance, safeguarding requirements and relevant charity policies.
  • Line managing two to three Fundraising Officers and an Administrator, supporting their development and creating a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
About You

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record in community fundraising, events fundraising or another supporter‑led income stream.

You will bring:
  • Proven experience of successfully delivering community and/or events fundraising.
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse range of supporters.
  • Experience managing and delivering successful fundraising events.
  • Experience working with families, volunteers, community groups or local organisations.
  • Previous line management and team development experience.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience using fundraising databases and working with supporter data.A proactive, creative and collaborative approach to fundraising.
Salary & Benefits
  • Contract type: Permanent, full time
  • Location: London, hybrid working, minimum 1 day a week in the office
  • Deadline: on rolling basis
