Job description

Summary
  • INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE*

Are you passionate about engaging a diverse range of audiences across a mix of communication channels? We're looking for an experienced communications and marketing professional to join our Specialist Delivery team in the Midlands and East of England (MEE) Region. You'll support teams at National Trust places in the Midlands, helping to promote a much-loved brand while encouraging supporters to visit, join, donate, and volunteer.

We're looking for an individual who wants to help grow support for our work to protect nature, beauty, and history.

The role is maternity cover and is 0.8 FTE equivalent to 4 days per week, fixed-term contract for 12 months.

Location is flexible and role can be delivered through hybrid working. However, the role will require you to visit properties in the Midlands area so fully remote working is not possible.

What It's Like To Work Here

You'll be part of the Trust's Specialist Delivery Team: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you'll be working with others to help make things happen.

As this role covers the Midlands & East of England region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home within that region.

Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We'll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40-60% of your working week.

What You'll Be Doing

Working closely with other members of the Specialist Delivery Team, you'll deliver a communications and marketing strategy that supports the National Trust's People and Nature Thriving Strategy by Inspiring Millions to End Unequal Access, Restore Nature and deliver Growth. You'll thrive on the challenge of balancing competing demands and be experienced in mitigating risk and managing communications when the unexpected happens.

You'll help facilitate local communities of practice to improve communications and marketing skills and knowledge. You'll work collaboratively with communications and marketing teams across the organisation to ensure plans are integrated, creating content for owned, earned and paid channels and evaluating the impact of your work and you'll act as a key contact for property colleagues to protect the Trusts reputation.

Who We're Looking For
  • Demonstrable experience using marketing and communication techniques across a range of channels to engage target audiences.
  • Experience managing and supporting reputational issues, with the ability to make informed decisions and provide effective advice.
  • Demonstrable coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to build confidence and capability in non-specialists and encourage effective marketing and communications practice.
  • Experience using research, audience insight and data to plan, deliver and evaluate marketing activity
  • A self-starter, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
