Job Title: Communications Development Manager

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (11 months)

Location: London or Edinburgh or Alderley Edge

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We are currently looking to appoint a Communications Development Manager, to shape, develop and deliver the Royal London Group's stewardship and sustainability reporting and communications activity. This hybrid role is suitable for candidates able to work from either our London or Edinburgh office; applications from other UK locations are also welcome.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Development Manager and working within a fast-paced environment as part of our supportive External Communications team, the role involves delivering clear, compelling, and engaging communications. The focus will be on showcasing how our Group contributes to a sustainable future.

About the role

  1. Lead the drafting, editing, and coordination of stewardship and climate reporting for Royal London Group and its subsidiaries, including the TCFD Report, Stewardship Reports, Climate Transition Plan, and related content for the Annual Report and Accounts.
  2. Research and implement best practices in sustainability and stewardship communications, adapting strategies to target markets, and bringing innovative ideas to Royal London.
  3. Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, supporting the delivery, management, design, and measurement of communication activities.
  4. Manage third-party suppliers in line with Group Procurement policies and budgets, ensuring cost efficiencies.
  5. Ensure that sustainability and stewardship messages are engaging, reflect our values, and are communicated consistently across online and print channels.
  6. Assist the Senior Communications Development Manager in coaching colleagues to improve their writing, tone of voice, and overall communication quality.
  7. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business priorities, identify opportunities, and enhance communication effectiveness.
  8. Contribute to building and protecting the company's reputation through strategic communication efforts.

About you

  1. Passionate about sustainability and ESG issues relevant to our industry.
  2. Excellent editorial, proofreading, and writing skills.
  3. Experience in writing on complex topics for diverse audiences across print and online media.
  4. Proven track record in delivering, implementing, and measuring communication campaigns.
  5. Experience in developing designed materials aligned with brand standards.
  6. Ability to lead and support complex projects effectively.
  7. A team player with collaborative skills.
