Job summary

Dovetail and Slate in London is seeking several Communication Support Workers to join our learning support team for a September 2026 start through July 2027. The roles involve working with deaf and hard of hearing learners across curriculum areas, providing high-quality communication and learning support to help them access their studies and achieve their potential.

Candidates from education, schools, specialist education, residential care, or support work are welcome.

Qualifications

• BSL Level 4 or 6 (or equivalent) required.
• Proven experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired learners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible and proactive approach to supporting learners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality communication and learning support to deaf learners across curriculum areas.
• Assist learners to access their studies and assessments.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to support inclusion and learning.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and DBS checks as required.

About the Role

A further education provider in London is looking for several Communication Support Workers to join their learning support team, with an anticipated start date of September 2026 running through to July 2027.

You’ll work closely with deaf and hard of hearing learners across a variety of curriculum areas, providing high-quality communication and learning support that helps them access their studies and achieve their potential.

This opportunity would suit candidates from a range of backgrounds, including further education, schools, specialist education, residential care, supported living or support work.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• BSL Level 4 or 6 (or equivalent)
• Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired individuals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learners
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience as a BSL Interpreter, Teacher of the Deaf, Learning Support Practitioner, Learning Support Assistant, Specialist Support Worker, SEND Support Worker, Deaf Support Worker, Teaching Assistant (BSL) or Education Support Worker
