Job Description

Scope Of Position

The Commis Waiter supports chef de rangs during service by handling food pick-up, table service, clearing, station refills, and drink service. Responsibilities include polishing glassware and crockery, maintaining a tidy back of house, and working with the team to ensure availability of clean plates and flatware. Support may also extend to assisting baristas and hosts as needed.

Responsibilities

Operation

• Know the menu and all products served in the drawing room.
• Deliver food promptly and accurately, explaining dishes to guests.
• Act as a liaison between Front and Back of House staff.
• Assist with table setting and replenishing tableware.
• Explain dishes to guests professionally and knowledgeably.
• Check on guests, take additional orders, and refill water as needed.
• Serve food and clear used dishes and utensils.
• Serve food in accordance with safety standards.
• Relay guest feedback and requests to staff.
• Practice sustainable waste management and purchasing daily.
• Perform additional duties or support other departments when required.

Health and Safety

• Report hazards and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Be familiar with fire, emergency, and bomb procedures.
• Maintain safety of persons and property by adhering to laws and anticipating hazards.
• Promote health and safety awareness within the team.
