Job summary

The Lensbury in Teddington, part of Iconic Hotels and Resorts, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support skilled chefs with food preparation and high-quality dish elements. You will help with vegetables, meats and fish, and ensure clean, safe kitchen operations.

A keen interest in developing culinary skills, good English, and the ability to work under pressure as part of a team are essential. Benefits include meals on duty and access to leisure facilities.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 2 required or obtained during training.
• Interest in food preparation and developing skills.
• Ability to work well in a team under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation and cooking of menu dishes.
• Prepare vegetables, meats and fish to required standards.
• Ensure accurate measurement of ingredients and portions.
• Help keep kitchen sections clean and orderly.
• Record cooking temperatures in the system and assist with stock rotation.
• Support chefs and assist with deliveries and restocking.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and equipment safety standards.

The Role

Working alongside highly skilled professional chefs, you will be assisting in the food preparation process, cooking, and preparing elements of high quality dishes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting in the food preparation process
• Cooking and preparing elements of menu dishes
• Preparing vegetables, meats and fish
• Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately
• Keeping the sections clean
• Recording cooking temperatures in Alert 65 system
• Assisting other Chefs as requested
• Helping with deliveries and restocking
• Assisting with stock rotation
• Contributing to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards.
• Always ensuring the safe working of all equipment; promptly reporting any faulty equipment to the Head Chef
• Playing your part in ensuring you and your team maintain exceptionally high of standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and health and safety.

The Candidate

• Food Safety Level 2
• An interest and experience in food preparation
• A keen interest in developing your skills and knowledge and growing within the team
• Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment
• Ability to work under pressure
• A good standard of spoken & written English
