Job summary

Purely Recruitment Solutions is seeking a talented Commis Chef for a client on the outskirts of Swindon. The role is permanent and full-time, with salary dependent on experience.

You will prepare, cook, and present dishes to hotel quality standards, work with fresh ingredients, and support kitchen staff. Flexible evenings, weekends, and holidays are required; on-site parking and meals on duty are possible.

Qualifications

• College training with pass of theory and practical exams.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Good organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Passion for fresh, seasonal produce and high-quality food.
• Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and holidays.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent.
• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present dishes to the hotel's quality standards.
• With training, ensure all food is prepared using fresh ingredients and correct cooking techniques.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Support and mentor any Kitchen Assistants.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages to senior Chefs.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and kitchen organisation.
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, allergen regulations, and health & safety procedures.
• Work effectively under pressure during busy service periods, including weddings, conferences, and events.
