Job summary

RBH Hospitality Management invites applicants for a Commis Chef position at our Liverpool hotel. You will learn from senior chefs, support kitchen stations, and contribute to a fast-paced service while maintaining high hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in cooking and eagerness to learn in a professional kitchen.
• Some kitchen experience is a plus, but willingness to learn is essential.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients for dishes and ensure smooth station operations.
• Work with senior chefs to refine cooking techniques and gain hands-on experience.
• Maintain a clean, orderly workstation following hygiene standards.
• Help with kitchen inventory and notify chefs when supplies run low.
• Assist with basic cooking tasks including sauces, grilling, and plating.
• Participate in regular cleaning duties to keep equipment spotless.
• Learn and adapt to kitchen procedures to support a well-organised team.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMIS CHEF AT OUR HOTEL

What you'll be doing...

• Assist in preparing ingredients for various dishes, from chopping and slicing to marinating and portioning, to ensure each station runs smoothly.
• Work alongside senior chefs in all sections, gaining hands-on experience and refining essential cooking techniques.
• Maintain a clean, organised workstation, following hygiene and food safety standards rigorously.
• Help with kitchen inventory by preparing ingredients, monitoring stock levels, and informing chefs when supplies are low.
• Take on basic cooking tasks, including making sauces, grilling, frying, and assisting with plating.
• Participate in regular cleaning duties to ensure all equipment and surfaces are kept spotless.
• Quickly learn and adapt to kitchen procedures, contributing effectively to a well-organised team.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Genuine interest in cooking and enthusiasm for learning in a professional kitchen.
• Some previous kitchen experience is a plus, but a willingness to work hard and learn is essential.
• Understanding of basic food prep techniques and a commitment to improving your skills.
• Strong attention to detail, especially regarding cleanliness and food safety.
