Job summary

Britannic Explorer, a Belmond Train, United Kingdom, is seeking a Commis Chef for a seasonal role running March to December 2026. You will work under the Sous Chef to prepare, cook and plate fine dining dishes, ensuring quality, flavour and presentation meet luxury standards.

Ideal candidates have previous luxury hospitality experience, a relevant diploma or certificate, and qualifications in hospitality, tourism, or business studies, with strong time management and communication skills.

As a Commis Chef at Britannic Explorer, a Belmond Train, you are part of a team responsible for delivering an exceptional culinary experience for our guests. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Sous Chef to execute fine dining dishes, ensuring that they are all prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation. Primary Responsibilities Include:

• This is a seasonal role which runs from March to December in 2026.
• Preparing, cooking and plating dishes according to established recipes and guidelines.
• Maintaining the quality, flavour and consistency of all items coming from your station, ensuring that all dishes are visually appealing, seasoned correctly, and tasted and adjusted as needed.
• Assisting with ordering and maintaining the inventory.
• Adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines, collaborating with other team members to keep the entire kitchen clean and organised.
• Operating and maintaining all department equipment and reporting any malfunctioning items.
• Following environmental regulations and taking measures to minimise our environmental impact.

Requirements

What You Bring

• Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK.

• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the luxury hospitality industry.

• A diploma or relevant certificate from a recognised tertiary educational institution.

• Relevant qualifications in hospitality management, tourism, or business studies.

• Time management skills, ability to work independently while following instructions accurately, and strong communication, organisational and administrative skills.
