Job summary

Din Tai Fung UK is hiring Commis Chefs to join our teams across Covent Garden, Centre Point, Selfridges and Canary Wharf. You will support food preparation across Wok, Dim Sum and other kitchen sections, preparing high-quality Taiwanese, Chinese and Asian dishes while learning our recipes and techniques.

We offer competitive pay £15-£17 per hour, 40-48 contracted hours per week, free staff meals, 30% staff dining discount, 28 days of holiday and structured training with real career progression.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef or similar is desirable.
• Interest in Asian cuisine and commitment to learning.
• Good knife skills and food preparation.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and public holidays; shifts up to 10:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh ingredients and support daily kitchen operations.
• Assist across Wok, Dim Sum, steaming and other kitchen sections.
• Prepare and cook dishes to recipe, quality and presentation standards.
• Develop skills in Asian, Chinese and Taiwanese cooking techniques.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety.
• Work efficiently with the kitchen team during busy service.
• Follow training and develop skills across multiple sections.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef, Kitchen Assistant, Chef or similar is desirable.
• Passion for cooking and interest in Asian cuisine.
• Good food preparation and knife skills.
• Reliable, hardworking and comfortable in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Positive team player with a willingness to learn.
• Wok, Dim Sum, Chinese or Taiwanese cuisine experience is desirable but not essential - full training provided.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends and public holidays, with some shifts finishing at 10:30 PM.
