Job summary

National Express Bus is seeking a Commercial Systems Manager to lead digital ticketing and on-board revenue systems for a large UK bus operation. The role reports to the Head of Commercial & Network and will shape revenue strategy across 1,400 buses from NX House in Birmingham.

You will oversee ticketing, back-office systems, and smart cards, while collaborating with TfWM and local authorities to optimise fares and funding. This is a hybrid role with on-site expectations in Birmingham.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial decision making and stakeholder management.
• Previous management experience in passenger transport or high-volume transit.
• Strong financial, insight, and presentation capabilities.
• Willingness to challenge established processes and drive change.

Responsibilities

• Lead on board revenue systems across 1,400 buses.
• Direct the core team responsible for ticket machines, card sales, web sales.
• Deliver smart fare strategies to hit revenue targets.
• Represent National Express in negotiations with TfWM and local authorities.
• Maximise concessionary travel grants and government funding.
• Deliver data-driven insights on revenue and market shifts.
