Job summary

London Gatwick is seeking a Project Engineer (Commercial) to lead strategic projects across the customer journey within the Commercial Programme, focusing on property and retail-led builds.

The role is office-first with a three-day-a-week in-office, two days remote arrangement, reporting to the Programme Design Manager and coordinating design across multi-disciplinary teams on multi-million-pound projects.

Qualifications

• University degree in an engineering or architectural discipline.
• Chartered membership of a recognised Engineering or Architectural Institution is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements related to the field.
• Experience in project scoping and preparation of design briefs is advantageous.
• Knowledge of British Standards is beneficial.
• Understanding NEC contracts and their implementation is desirable.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams across complex projects.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scope to meet business needs and manage design effectively.
• Lead design brief development for external consultants and manage design contracts.
• Seek sustainable design solutions including energy efficiency, material selection, waste reduction and transport optimization to reduce carbon emissions.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to support delivery of projects.
• Seek cost-effective design solutions and manage external consultants.
• Provide technical input to design changes through the project lifecycle.
• Act as Principal Designer contact and discharge CDM duties with support.
