Commercial Operations Officer - Fixed term until 13/12/2026
Waverley Court

Salary: £33,287 - £39,129

Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks

About the role

Commercial and Procurement Services (CPS) performs a critical role, working in collaboration with the whole of the Council's operations, to ensure that we achieve value for money whilst balancing cost, the delivery of citizen or service outcomes and our wider responsibilities, including sustainability, community benefit, fair work practices and the development of a vibrant local economy.

An opportunity has arisen within CPS to join our Commercial Operations Team. In this role you may be involved in a number of key control functions such as the Council's Purchase to Pay (P2P) systems, reviewing contract or purchase card spend, updating electronic catalogues, receiving contract register entries, ensuring compliance with the Council's Contract Standing Orders and advice to customers in relation to non-contract orders.

Responsibilities
  • Work within the Commercial Operations team to support financial systems administration and support.
  • Assist with reviewing contract spend and purchase card spend, updating electronic catalogues, and receiving contract register entries.
  • Help ensure compliance with the Council's Contract Standing Orders and provide advice to customers in relation to non-contract orders.
  • Provide guidance and operational support to service users and team members to support current and future challenges of the Council.
  • Engage with a range of stakeholders, maintaining high attention to detail and effective organisation.
Qualifications and skills
  • Experience in financial systems administration and support.
  • Ability to assess complex data, identify opportunities to improve performance and value for money.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style to different customer groups and situations.
  • Good understanding of the Council and its objectives.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to respond positively to change in a fast-moving environment.
