Job summary

Murphy is seeking a Commercial Manager for an energy-focused portfolio based in Kentish Town, with travel to sites across Greater London and the South. You will lead all commercial activities, oversee cost control and procurement, and partner with the Project Director to manage risk and programme delivery.

The role requires MRICS or equivalent, strong civil engineering commercial experience, and a proven ability to optimise margins across complex EPC-type projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent required.
• Extensive experience in commercial roles within Civil Engineering/Construction.
• Strong understanding of NEC/standard forms of contract and procurement processes.
• Proven ability to manage cost/value reconciliation and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of the project and liaise with stakeholders.
• Conduct monthly cost and value reconciliation reviews.
• Oversee contract variations, claims and early warning process.
• Maintain project risk register and ensure mitigation is applied.
• Support the project commercial team on a daily basis.
• Oversee procurement to secure commercially advantageous terms.
• Maximise cash position including WIP control and cash flow.
• Monitor weekly contractor costs and report to construction team.
• Assist in programme management with the Project Director and Planning Manager.
• Drive continuous commercial improvement, margin protection and change control.
• Manage project controls including value, cost, production and supply chain.
