Job summary

BTTC in the United Kingdom is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead strategic commercial and contractual activities across multi-project rail infrastructure. The role offers hybrid working, a competitive salary with bonus, and clear pathways to chartership.

You will guide pre- and post-contract duties, collaborate with clients and contractors, mentor teams, and report on performance and governance. The successful candidate will have MRICS/MCICES or working toward accreditation and a solid

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• MRICS or MCICES membership, or actively pursuing accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of Network Rail standards and NEC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic commercial and contractual support across projects.
• Lead pre- and post-contract duties across various models.
• Collaborate with clients and contractors to drive performance.
• Ensure governance procedures are followed.
• Share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and develop team members for growth.
• Drive strategic initiatives aligned with business objectives.
• Engage with executive stakeholders to build relationships.
• Oversee governance and risk across multiple projects.
• Deliver accurate performance and financial reporting to support decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree: Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Membership: MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or MCICES (Member of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors), or actively working towards accreditation.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and NEC contract frameworks.
• Leadership: Proven line management, including team development and performance management.
• Coaching & Development: Demonstrated ability and desire to coach, mentor, and upskill team members.
• Project Delivery: Experience managing complex infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
