Job summary

BTTC in Greater London is seeking a Commercial Manager to drive strategic commercial and contractual leadership across rail infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with clients and contractors, ensuring governance, risk management, and strong performance reporting, while mentoring a growing team and contributing to thought leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• MRICS or MCICES membership or actively working towards accreditation.
• Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and NEC contract frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic commercial and contractual support.
• Lead pre- and post-contract duties across various models.
• Collaborate with clients and contractors to drive performance.
• Ensure governance procedures are followed and risk managed.
• Mentor and develop team members to enable growth.
• Drive strategic initiatives aligned with business objectives.
• Engage with executive stakeholders to build strong relationships.
• Oversee governance and risk across multiple projects.
• Deliver accurate performance and financial reporting to support decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree: Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Membership: MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or MCICES (Member of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors), or actively working towards accreditation.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and NEC contract frameworks.
• Leadership: Proven line management, including team development and performance management.
• Coaching & Development: Demonstrated ability and desire to coach, mentor, and upskill team members.
• Project Delivery: Experience managing complex infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
