Curshaw Commercial Job Opportunity - Manager

We want to hear from ambitious and highly-driven people with a track record of success across the commercial lifecycle (pre-procurement, procurement, contract management and expiry), to join our team.

Curshaw Commercial is a specialist consultancy advising both the public sector, and infrastructure funds with £40bn+ of assets under management, on how to meet the biggest UK infrastructure challenges in a market with a value of over £290bn. Our focus is contract compliance, operational service improvement and efficient, effective and equitable (E3) handback of state critical assets like hospitals and schools.

We are also heavily involved in the renewal of Public Private Partnerships in the context of the UK infrastructure deficit, HM Treasury’s 10 year infrastructure strategy and the government’s ambition to rebuild Britain and achieve the highest economic growth rate in the G7.

We are looking for ambitious commercial professionals to join the team, based in Chancery House in central London, and help us develop industry solutions to address public policy challenges, providing expert advice on the latest major infrastructure market insight.

As a Manager within the Curshaw team, you will:

  • Deliver engagements with our clients to make the entire commercial lifecycle better on a sustained basis, following our industry leading E3 approach, managing a team to support you in doing so.
  • Provide advice on the re-structuring and re-negotiating of existing contracts, and ensure they deliver intended outcomes and value for money.
  • Operate within the public sector regulatory environment with respect to procurement and contract management, and solve client problems using the latest advice and best practice.
  • Translate broader macroeconomic and political developments into actionable insights.
  • Deliver research tasks and briefings through analysis, development and presentation, on behalf of clients.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance Curshaw’s services, and develop new ones.
  • Advise clients on the latest commercial best practice.
  • Provide oversight of operational activities at Curshaw, such as internal business policies, recruitment and retention, and profitability, ensuring Curshaw’s growth is supported by best-in-class operational processes.
  • Work alongside senior colleagues on business development activities such as building relationships with existing and potential new clients, finding opportunities and securing contracts for Curshaw.
  • Line manage more junior members of the team in a rewarding and fast-paced learning environment.
  • Work closely with Partner-level colleagues.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to engage stakeholders to understand their commercial and strategic needs, and translate this into a suitable approach.
  • Ability to understand issues and build and implement processes to address them, both at a project and portfolio level.
  • Highly effective in constructively challenging embedded approaches.
  • Highly effective in communicating, presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Being able to see the bigger picture and work strategically.
  • Experience of managing teams, in both a line management and project management capacity.
  • Significant experience in working within public procurement regulation and policy constraints.
  • Significant experience of interpreting and analysing complex contracts.
  • Familiarity with asset management.
  • PFI and major infrastructure market insight.
  • Track record of success in consulting firms.
  • Track record of delivering savings and efficiencies within complex contract structures.
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting financial models.
