Job summary

Counted is seeking a Commercial Management Accountant for its hybrid role based at Birmingham Business Park. You will collaborate with project and operational teams to support the wider finance function, handling project cost accounting, billing, and cash collection across multiple currencies.

The ideal candidate will have significant accounting experience, a relevant undergraduate degree, and strong Excel and analytic capabilities.

Qualifications

• Significant relevant experience within a finance or accounting role.
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• Part qualified accountant (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) status is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong Excel skills alongside good analytical ability.
• Hands-on experience using a project cost accounting system.

Responsibilities

• Liaising with project managers to obtain sign-off ahead of client billing.
• Setting up new projects on the accounting system, including budget revisions and cost transfers as required.
• Maintaining and validating billing rates across the project portfolio.
• Calculating and posting management fees and other direct cost entries.
• Producing regular cost reports for project managers, on a weekly basis or as requested.
• Processing project-related purchase ledger transactions.
• Managing the sales ledger, including chasing outstanding customer payments.
• Handling transactions across multiple currencies.
• Producing and issuing accurate monthly client invoices, complete with all required supporting documentation.
• Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc projects and tasks as required.

Main Duties:

As a Commercial Management Accountant, your main duties include:

What We Are Looking For

• Significant relevant experience within a finance or accounting role
• An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, with a solid working knowledge of accounting principles
• Part qualified accountant (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) status is advantageous but not essential
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of documentation and information
• Confident, personable communication style, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts
