A growth-oriented insurer in Colchester is recruiting a Business Development Executive to build and own a local sales pipeline. You’ll receive structured training, mentoring, and support with CII studies as you establish a long-term career in Commercial Insurance.

Unlike servicing roles, this position puts you in the market to generate opportunities, meet clients, and convert prospects into lasting relationships, with progression toward portfolio management as you grow.

Qualifications

• Confident, professional communicator with ability to build rapport quickly.
• Proactive and resilient, comfortable with outbound calls.
• Interest in Commercial Insurance and a desire to build a career in the sector.
• Target-driven and committed to doing things properly.
• Any exposure to insurance or sales is helpful, but attitude and energy matter.

Responsibilities

• Proactively generating new business opportunities with local companies.
• Targeting and engaging businesses to uncover insurance needs.
• Building a pipeline through outbound calls, referrals, introductions and networking.
• Booking and attending client meetings (phone, video and face-to-face) to assess risk.
• Helping prepare and deliver proposals and presentations.
• Developing confidence in handling objections, negotiating, and converting opportunities.
• Progressing into managing your own portfolio as you grow (with training).
