Job summary

Bimplus is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our construction team. Working with the Senior Estimator, you will prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial refurbishment and construction projects, ensuring bids are accurate, timely and competitive.

The role requires a building background, 3+ years estimating experience, proficiency with estimating software and Excel, and the ability to communicate with clients, suppliers and project teams. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of proven experience in estimating construction projects.
• Strong understanding of cost estimating principles and practices.
• Proficient in estimating software and Excel.
• Excellent analytical and detail-oriented approach.
• Effective verbal and written communication with team and clients.
• Experience estimating projects up to £5m in value.
• HND or equivalent in surveying or construction discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, subcontractors, labour and prelims.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal design/production teams.
• Ensure tenders are cost-effective and meet budget targets.
• Assess site constraints (levels, drainage, access, services).
• Conduct thorough analysis of project specifications and drawings to identify components for estimation.
• Conduct site surveys as required to support tendering.
• Maintain up-to-date estimating tools, pricing databases and cost records.
• Assist in preparing tender submissions and proposals.
• Source, evaluate and manage quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
