Job summary

Streamline Search is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our construction team. Reporting to the Senior Estimator, you will prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for commercial projects and work closely with project managers, engineers and subcontractors.

A strong building background and refurbishment knowledge are essential. With a minimum of 3 years in estimating, you will travel as needed and contribute to competitive tender submissions, ensuring bids are technically sound and

Qualifications

• 3 years+ proven experience in estimating.
• Strong understanding of cost estimating principles and practices.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all estimates.
• Proficient in using estimating software and tools, alongside advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear interaction with team members and clients.
• Estimating construction projects up to £5m in value.
• HND or equivalent in a surveying or construction related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, subcontractors, labour and pre-lims from tenders, drawings and client briefs.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal design/production teams
• Ensure our tenders are cost-effective and meet budget targets
• Assess site constraints (levels, drainage, access, services, etc)
• Conduct thorough analysis of project specifications and drawings to identify all necessary components for accurate estimation.
• Conduct site surveys as required, to assess project conditions and support the tendering process.
• Maintain up-to-date estimating tools, pricing databases and cost records to ensure accuracy and efficiency in future tenders.
• Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and proposals as required.
• Source, evaluate and manage quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
