Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Commercial and Cleaning Manager to lead cleaning and operational standards across four student accommodation sites in the Northumbria University community. You will develop and inspire a dedicated team to deliver safe, welcoming, and spotless living environments while driving compliance and service quality.

You will manage staffing, rotas, inspections, and use digital cleaning systems to improve efficiency and accountability.

Qualifications

• Experience managing cleaning, facilities, housekeeping or hospitality operations across multiple sites.
• Strong people management skills with experience leading, motivating and developing teams.
• Excellent organisational skills to prioritise workloads and adapt to changing demands.
• Good understanding of cleaning standards, Health & Safety and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management with a customer-focused approach.
• Confident using digital systems, reporting tools and performance management processes.
• A proactive, hands-on leader who maintains high standards and drives improvement.

• Take ownership of cleaning operations within the on-site Common Ground Café.

• Collaborate with colleagues, university stakeholders and contractors to enhance student experience.

Commercial and Cleaning Manager to lead cleaning and operational standards across four vibrant student accommodation sites supporting the Northumbria University community. This is more than a cleaning management role. You'll be responsible for creating welcoming, safe and spotless living environments where students can thrive, while leading, developing and inspiring a dedicated team to deliver consistently high standards. As Commercial and Cleaning Manager, you'll

• Lead and motivate cleaning teams across four student accommodation sites.

Northumbria University Accommodation, Trinity Square, Gateshead, NE8 1FT, (Multiple sites across Newcastle and Gateshead)

£32,000pa + excellent benefits 40hrs pw Monday to Friday with occasional weekends 9am - 5:30pm
