Job summary

Stride Resource Management Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a Commercial Account Handler to service a busy portfolio of SME charity clients. You will manage renewals, MTAs and day-to-day enquiries, using your broking experience to obtain quotations and secure appropriate cover.

The role is hybrid, with two days in the Birmingham office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and potential additional days during the initial month. Prior charity/not-for-profit experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience as Commercial Insurance Account Handler for SME clients.
• Manually brokers, sources quotations, negotiates terms with insurers.

• Good understanding of commercial insurance products and client-insurer interactions.

Take responsibility for the day-to-day servicing of a busy portfolio of SME charity clients, handling renewals, mid-term adjustments and enquiries while using your broking experience to secure appropriate cover and competitive terms.

This Commercial Account Handler opportunity is with an established insurance broker in Birmingham, working with clients across the charity and not-for-profit sector. You'll work from the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the possibility of an additional office day during your first month while you settle into the role.

The opportunity

• Handle a high volume of SME charity accounts, managing renewals, mid-term adjustments and day-to-day client enquiries.
• Use your manual broking experience to approach insurers, obtain quotations, negotiate terms and arrange appropriate cover for clients.
• Manage renewal activity efficiently, ensuring clients receive timely quotations and their insurance requirements are properly addressed.
• Deal directly with clients and insurers, resolving queries, processing policy changes and keeping accounts running smoothly.
• Work across a busy portfolio where organisation, technical knowledge and the ability to manage competing priorities are important.
• Develop your understanding of the insurance requirements of charities and not-for-profit organisations, including the different risks these clients face.

Who would suit it?

• You'll already have experience as a Commercial Insurance Account Handler, ideally working with SME clients and managing a busy portfolio.
• Manual broking experience is essential. You'll be comfortable approaching insurers, obtaining quotations and negotiating terms rather than relying entirely on automated e-trading platforms.
• Experience handling high volumes of renewals, MTAs and client enquiries is also essential.
• You'll have a sound understanding of commercial insurance products and be confident dealing with clients and insurers directly.
• You'll be organised, accurate and comfortable managing a substantial workload without compromising the quality of your service.
• Previous experience with charity or not-for-profit clients would be useful, although it's not essential.

The package

• £35,000 basic salary.
• Hybrid working, with just two days per week in the Birmingham office, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• There may be a requirement to attend the office three days per week during your first month of employment.
