Job summary

Tata Steel's Trostre Steelworks in Llanelli is seeking an experienced Combustion Engineer to lead site combustion systems and drive COMAH compliance. The role involves fault-finding in gas, air, electrical, and instrumentation control systems, and delivering upgrades with strict adherence to QA and safety standards.

The role supports 36.5 hours/week, Mon-Fri, with start ASAP after a medical assessment. Applicants must have UK Right to Work; there are clear progression paths into permanent roles.

Qualifications

• Degree educated in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong track record in heavy industry, ideally steel/tinplate manufacturing.
• Experience fault-finding on complex industrial gas, air, electrical and instrumentation control systems.
• IEMA Associate level (or equivalent knowledge).
• Expertise in managing emissions, site permits and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site technical authority for all manufacturing combustion systems.
• Evaluate unit capabilities and drive hazard identification.
• Lead COMAH, DSEAR/Ex, and environmental compliance strategies.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of combustion system upgrades and MOC processes.
• Maintain SOPs and ensure alignment with QA and safety standards.
• Collaborate with Energy & Environment team on permits, energy forecasting and best practices.
