Job summary

National Gas Transmission PLC is seeking a COMAH Compliance Engineer to provide specialist process safety, security and environmental compliance support across operational regions and services. The role focuses on driving continuous improvement in safety and operational performance while ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.

The role requires working at the St Fergus Gas Terminal on a site-based pattern with occasional travel to Aberdeen.

Qualifications

Proven knowledge of process safety and environmental compliance.
Experience in high-hazard or safety-critical environments with strong safety leadership.
Familiar with gas transmission operations and above-ground installations.

Responsibilities

Provide specialist process safety, security and environmental compliance support.
Monitor and report compliance data, risk registers, licences and regulatory submissions.
Conduct assurance visits, audits and inspections and share best practice.
Support process safety assessments (HAZOP/HAZID) and risk assessments.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and compliance.
Investigate incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Represent National Gas with regulators, customers, emergency services and other stakeholders.
