Job summary
Clarke Energy seeks a proactive Process Safety Engineer to provide specialist safety support across gas-powered generation, CHP, biogas, hydrogen, and BESS projects in the UK and abroad.
You will lead hazard identifications, risk assessments, and safety studies, ensuring compliance with COMAH, ATEX, and ISO standards while integrating process safety into design, installation and operation.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Process Safety Engineering role within energy/power generation or related industry.
- Experience leading or facilitating HAZOP, LOPA and other formal process safety assessments.
- Strong understanding of process safety regulations, standards and best practice.
- Full UK/EU Driving Licence and eligible to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support process safety activities across projects, including hazard identification and risk assessments.
- Develop safety documentation such as risk assessments, safety cases and operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with COMAH, ATEX, ISO standards and other regulations.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions.
- Provide process safety training and promote awareness across teams.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to embed safety throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engage with clients, regulators and suppliers as required.
