Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council is seeking a Cognition, Learning and Down Syndrome Advisory Support Worker to help children access learning in mainstream settings. You will collaborate with specialist teachers, school staff and families to deliver individualised strategies and interventions, and support transitions while promoting child-centred planning.

You will work across education, health and care to build confidence and independence for children and young people, modelling practical approaches

Qualifications

• Recent, relevant experience supporting children and young people with cognition and learning needs and/or Down Syndrome in mainstream settings.
• Ability to build strong relationships with children, families, school staff and partners.
• Organisational skills to plan, prioritise and travel between schools and settings.
• Calm, patient and solution-focused approach to supporting learning.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and empowering children to participate.

Responsibilities

• Support children with cognition and learning needs and/or Down Syndrome to access learning and school life.
• Contribute to child-centred planning, transitions and practical interventions.
• Model effective strategies for staff and help develop inclusive practice in schools.
• Work collaboratively with families, schools and professionals to remove barriers to learning.
