Job summary

Platinum Recruitment Consultancy is recruiting for a Coffee Shop Assistant Manager in Christchurch. You will lead a hands-on team and help run a busy coffee shop, delivering warm, friendly service. The role offers a great work-life balance and a clear path to progression.

The position requires prior supervisory experience in hospitality, strong leadership, and a passion for customer service. A structured pattern with alternate weekends off is included.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a café or hospitality environment.
• At least 1 year's supervisory/team leader experience.
• Passion for great customer service.
• Confident leadership and ability to motivate a team.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Positive, proactive and hands-on approach.
• Calm under pressure in a busy environment.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Experience with tills, cash handling and basic computer systems.
• Flexibility to work weekends and busy seasonal periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team and keep the coffee shop running smoothly.
• Support the Coffee Shop Manager with daily operations.
• Lead by example to deliver friendly, consistent service.
• Take responsibility when the Manager is away.
• Assist with rostering, staffing levels and day-to-day organization.
• Coach and develop team members and build product knowledge.
• Assist with recruitment, inductions and training.
• Maintain high standards across food, drink, cleanliness and presentation.
• Support stock control, ordering and reducing waste.
• Handle customer queries and resolve issues professionally.
• Assist with cash handling and end-of-day procedures.
• Ensure food safety and health & safety compliance.
• Provide hands-on support during busy periods and lead from the front.
