Job summary

CK Group are recruiting for a Chemist to join a multinational manufacturer of coatings and sealants at their site in Shildon, County Durham, on a 3-month contract initially; role is fully site based.

The Chemist will participate in development of new products, provide advice to other departments and customers, and engineer/modify existing products to meet client requirements. A scientific degree with chemistry knowledge is essential, with excellent problem solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant scientific degree or equivalent experience.
• Chemical knowledge, particularly in coatings/sealants.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development of new products.
• Provide advice and recommendations to other departments and customers to assist in solving potential problems and queries.
• Engineer/modify existing products to meet customer requirements.
• Make decisions regarding adjustment and release of production batches, raw material selection and substitution and modification of internal product specifications.
• Meet with suppliers to discuss new materials or problems with existing materials.
• Support quality department in resolution of customer complaints.
