Job summary

Bishop Burton College is seeking an experienced Coach and Assessor in Horticulture to deliver training and assessment to apprentices across horticulture sectors, including landscaping and grounds maintenance.

You will build employer relationships, monitor progress, provide feedback, and help apprentices prepare for end-point assessment, bringing at least three years of industry experience and strong communication and organisational skills.

18.5 Hours, Working Tuesday and Wednesday 8.30-5pm, Thursday 8.30-12 noon

Actual Salary is £16,936, (Full Time Equivalent £33,872)

Are you an experienced horticulture professional looking for an opportunity to share your expertise, support apprentices and help employers develop their future workforce?

As a Coach and Assessor in Horticulture, you will use your practical industry knowledge to deliver high-quality training, assessment and support to apprentices. You may currently be working within commercial horticulture, landscaping, grounds maintenance, estate management, plant production or a related sector as an experienced practitioner, supervisor or manager. Alternatively, you may already be working as a trainer or assessor and be looking for a role where you can make a greater impact.

You will guide apprentices throughout their programme, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to succeed. This will include delivering engaging and inclusive training, completing workplace assessments, providing constructive feedback and preparing apprentices for their end-point assessment. You will also monitor progress, maintain accurate records and work closely with employers to ensure each apprentice receives a supportive and well-coordinated experience.

Alongside delivery and assessment, you will build strong relationships with employers, identify opportunities to grow our horticulture apprenticeship provision and ensure that training remains relevant to the needs of the industry. You will bring at least three years’ relevant industry experience, strong communication and organisational skills, and a genuine commitment to helping apprentices achieve their full potential.
