Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a motivated Machine Shop Technician with CNC machining experience to join our manufacturing team in High Wycombe, producing precision components for a range of industries.

You will set up and operate CNC lathes, work with conventional lathes and milling machines, and interpret engineering drawings to select tooling and methods. There are development opportunities, including progression to a Machine Shop Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC machining experience and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure parts meet specs.
• Understanding of machining techniques, tooling and processes used in manufacturing.
• Competence using precision measuring equipment to verify tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision components.
• Operate conventional lathes, milling machines and other workshop equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
• Select suitable tooling, fixtures and machining methods.
• Produce one-off, prototype and small-batch components.
• Carry out dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Complete routine machine maintenance and equipment checks.
• Work with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to resolve issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and CNC utilisation.

CNC / Machine Shop Technician Required High Wycombe

Working Hours: 39 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am to 4:00pm
Friday: 7:00am to 12:00pm

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Machine Shop Technician with CNC machining experience to join our growing manufacturing team, producing precision components for a range of industries.

Alongside CNC turning, you will have the opportunity to operate conventional machinery, improve manufacturing processes and help increase CNC capability. This role offers excellent development opportunities, including potential progression into a Machine Shop Supervisor position.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision components.
• Operate conventional lathes, milling machines and other workshop equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
• Select suitable tooling, fixtures and machining methods.
• Produce one-off, prototype and small-batch components.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Previous CNC machining experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of machining techniques, tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Competence using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Desirable

• Experience with Haas CNC machines.
• CNC programming or editing experience.
• Experience operating conventional lathes and milling machines.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and continuous improvement methods.
