Optima UK Inc Ltd in Coventry seeks a hands-on CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator. You will own the machining process from programming through to finished inspection, not just run existing programs.

The role requires proven CNC turning, Edgecam and FANUC controls experience, with a track record in small-batch, high-precision machining and reading detailed drawings to tight tolerances.

CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator

Commutable from: Coventry, Nuneaton, Bedworth, Rugby, Warwick, Hinckley and Leicester

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Hours: Monday-Friday, days

The Role

This is a hands-on, technically challenging position focused on specialist, small-batch precision engineering. You'll take ownership of the machining process, from programming through to finished inspection, rather than simply operating existing programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes.
• Creating and modifying programmes both online and offline.
• Using Edgecam for offline programming.
• Working with FANUC controls.
• Selecting tooling, workholding and cutting parameters.
• Proving out programmes and setting datums and offsets.
• Reading engineering drawings and machining complex components to tight tolerances.
• Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections.
• Troubleshooting machining issues and ensuring components are produced right first time.

About You

You'll be a confident, self-sufficient CNC Turner with strong programming and setting experience and a passion for precision engineering.

• FANUC controls experience - essential.
• Small-batch, high-precision machining experience.
• Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Experience with complex components, varied CNC turning machinery, tooling selection and CAD/CAM systems would also be advantageous.
